Getting to the "root cause" is about identifying and addressing the underlying factors that are contributing to your health issues, rather than merely managing or putting a band-aid on your symptoms.

To achieve this, we look at lifestyle habits, environmental influences, genetics, stress, sleep, nutrition, and other factors that impact your health and well-being. Health is multifaceted, and the choices we make in one area of life have a powerful influence on others.

By combining this information with functional lab testing, we gain a deeper understanding of how these factors are affecting your health.

This comprehensive approach allows us to develop a personalized plan tailored to what your body truly needs. By addressing the root causes, we are able to harness the body's innate ability to heal itself, leading to more effective and lasting improvements in your health.

What does it mean to get to the "root cause" ?

+ LOWER INFLAMMATION

+ FEWER PMS SYMPTOMS

Get ready to experience...

Getting to the "root cause" is about identifying and addressing the underlying factors that are contributing to your health issues, rather than merely managing or putting a band-aid on your symptoms.

For example, I went through multiple rounds of antibiotics and took Spironolactone for years to manage my acne. However, a few months after stopping the medication, my acne came back with a vengeance.

Once I started working with a functional practitioner to address the root cause of my acne — which turned out to be hormonal imbalances, a slightly under-active thyroid, and leaky gut — my skin completely cleared up.

By ditching band-aid solutions and addressing the root causes instead, we can harness the body's innate ability to heal itself. This approach leads to more effective and lasting improvements in your health.

What does it mean to get to the "root cause"?

Traditional reference ranges are used in conventional medicine to diagnose disease. These ranges are based on averages from a broad population, including people who aren't in ideal health, so they represent what’s considered 'normal' or 'average' rather than what’s optimal.

Functional lab ranges are narrower and designed to identify early imbalances, even if you’re not yet symptomatic. This allows us to uncover the root causes of your symptoms, address imbalances directly, and develop a personalized plan that honors bio-individuality and supports multidimensional, long-lasting health.

Functional testing also covers a broader range of markers. For example, rather than just running TSH for thyroid concerns, we also test Free T3, T4, Free Thyroxine Index, Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Antibodies, Thyroglobulin Antibodies, and more to provide a comprehensive view of thyroid function. By looking at this broader range of markers, we can identify subtle imbalances or dysfunctions that are often missed with conventional testing.

What is functional bloodwork?

Yes! The standard functional bloodwork panel I offer is very comprehensive and thorough. However, if there are additional markers you’d like to include, we can certainly do that. Before ordering your bloodwork panel, please message me with your specific needs or concerns, and we’ll work together to tailor the panel to best suit your health goals.

Can I customize my bloodwork panel?

As a new client, bloodwork is necessary to establish a baseline of your current health status and identify any underlying imbalances and/or deficiencies.

Instead of guessing what your symptoms might indicate, we use bloodwork to gather precise, objective data about your body's current state and unique needs. This approach allows us to pinpoint and address the root causes of your symptoms, rather than relying on assumptions or incomplete information.

With this data, we can develop a personalized plan that honors your bio-individuality and supports long-lasting results and optimal health.

Bloodwork is required as a new client and will need to be purchased separately. If you have done a full bloodwork panel within the past 4-6 months, we can review those results.

Is bloodwork required as a new client?

Bloodwork is required for your initial consultation, but we'll only need to rerun labs every 4-6 months, or after you have completed at least 3-4 protocols. We want to give your body adequate time to heal and adjust before retesting, as this ensures we capture meaningful changes and track your true progress.

Depending on your specific needs, other tests (like the DUTCH Complete or G-I Map) may be recommended in the future as well. You will need to book another lab + health review in order to get new results reviewed!

How often do we need to run bloodwork/do other tests?

Unfortunately, I do not accept insurance, so you will be responsible for all payments. All costs will be communicated to you upfront to avoid any financial surprises. Additionally, you may be able to use your FSA/HSA funds to cover some of the test kit expenses.

Can I use my insurance to pay for tests/services?

Functional practitioners like myself can help you to support and improve gut issues (leaky gut, SIBO, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, irregular bowel movements), skin issues (acne, rashes, eczema, rosacea, dryness), hormonal imbalances (PCOS, PMS, endometriosis, painful periods, irregular cycles, coming off birth control), brain fog and fatigue, sleep issues, anxiety + depression, autoimmune conditions, blood sugar dysregulation, weight gain/weight loss resistance, candida overgrowth, adrenal and cortisol dysfunction, and more.

What are common signs & symptoms you see within your practice?

I see all clients virtually through Google Meet or over the phone, depending on your preference. This flexibility allows us to work together regardless of your location or schedule. Despite meeting virtually, our sessions will feel as though we’re together in person, with the same level of personal connection and engagement!

Do you work with clients in-person or virtually?

Follow-up sessions are recommended every 8-10 weeks, as each protocol generally takes about 60 days long to complete. As you make progress, the frequency of follow-ups will decrease. Additionally, chat support is available for questions and concerns if needed between sessions.

After my first appointment, how often are follow-ups?

Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through IIN (The Institute for Integrative Nutrition).

Certified Mastering Blood Chemistry Specialist through MBCE (functional blood chemistry interpretation and lab ordering).

Soon-to-be Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner through FDN (Functional Diagnostic Nutrition)

What are your qualifications?

Following each session, you will receive a personalized protocol designed to address your unique needs. This protocol will include specific recommendations for supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments based on our discussions and the data from your functional lab testing. To promote consistency and ensure sustainable change, the protocols are kept simple and the recommended changes are bite-sized and attainable, making it easier for you to integrate them into your daily routine.

What is included in my protocol & recommendations?

For every year you've felt unwell, you can generally expect about 1-2 months to restore balance, with noticeable progress typically taking a minimum of 4-6 months. This timeline can vary depending on the complexity of your health issues, how well you adhere to your protocols, and your body's individual response to change.

It’s important to remember that healing doesn't happen overnight and may require adjustments to your plan along the way. Regular follow-up sessions will help us monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to support your journey towards optimal health.

How long does it take to start seeing progress?
