How My Functional Practitioner Changed My Life
My journey to helping individuals heal from the inside out and take control of their health began with my own struggles.
In 2020, stubborn cystic acne took over my life and destroyed my confidence. After a year of trial and error, I finally saw a dermatologist who prescribed antibiotics and Spironolactone, assuring me that adult acne was completely “normal.”
In 2021, shortly after getting a hormonal IUD, I experienced 13 yeast and bacterial infections in just 12 months. My OBGYN said this was “normal” for some women and prescribed yet another round of antibiotics.
In 2022, I lost over 40 pounds by tracking macros and doing high-intensity workouts six times a week. Although I felt great about how I looked, I wasn’t truly taking care of my body — I was sleeping less than six hours a night, felt hungry all the time, ate lots of packaged "healthy" foods, and stressed my body into hormonal chaos. My acne returned with a vengeance, and I tried everything to clear my skin, getting nowhere. Frustrated and seeking answers, I visited my primary care doctor for a full bloodwork panel. But he insisted my results were "normal" and that I was perfectly healthy.
